Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is characterized at the behavioural level by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity as outlined in DSM-IV criteria. These behaviours are underpinned by cognitive deficits in sustained attention, working memory and response inhibition. Similar cognitive profiles are seen in children and adults.
The CANTAB® ADHD battery has been selected to rapidly and efficiently assess the key cognitive deficits present in ADHD. The tests, including the gold standard Stop Signal task, have proven tolerability in ADHD studies and are suitable to assess performance both in adults and in children over the age of 7 years. In academic research studies as well as clinical trials, these tests have been shown to be highly sensitive to the pro-cognitive effects of standard ADHD medication and novel treatments.
